Join the crew in 2015!

The new year is upon us, along with a new membership year and officer elections! 

Nominations for President and Treasurer have already begun, and Secretary, Events Director, and Communications Director will follow soon after. We need your participation to make the next year as good as it can get!

If you haven't already renewed your membership, you'll want to jump on that. That said, because we're getting to it so late, we'll extend the deadline through Phoenix Comicon. Current members will still be able to vote in this round whether you've renewed or not. Officers however will obviously be required to renew before they can formally take office. 

This year is shaping up to be a major turning point year. The Arizona Browncoats have been a group for 10 years, and we've been an organization for 8. For much of that time, we've had a fairly small pool of people taking leadership positions. While they've been wonderful, they're getting burnt out and we need fresh blood to take us into the next decade. There is no monarchy here, ALL 5 positions are open to ANY active member of the organization. Whether you're nominated or not, if you're at all interested, please speak up and volunteer.

Most significantly, Lisa, our treasurer almost since the beginning and who has kept our books immaculate and allowed us to do amazing things with our budget thanks to careful budgeting, is hoping to get a chance to resign. Between the sacrifices required to take the time to not only monitor her own family's budget (and her hardly frugal *cough* husband) but the organization as well, and the birth of our baby girl, it's time we seek out someone new. 

This is not a small request mind you. As Mal says, "now I'm asking more of you than I have before." Between the Treasurer and the Secretary (first action for the new year: rename that job to "Clerk"... no one wants to be "Secretary"), all transactions involving financial activity, membership, CSTS ticket sales, filing taxes and registration for Comicon and the like, etc. go through them. It's difficult, but the closer the two work together, the easier it is for both of them. The important thing however, is that we cannot survive as an organization without a committed and trustworthy Treasurer. Search yourself and see if you care enough about continuing the great works that we've done enough to take on this important job. You'll have plenty of help, we won't throw you in the deep end. Please volunteer.

While our incumbent, Shelby, has been great, President is up for grabs if you fancy yourself a leader. 
The Secretary/Clerk position gives you a great chance to show off your OCD organizational skills. 
Communications Director is perfect for the social media addicts out there, and you can achieve that dream of being a PR person as you take on the face of the organization. 
If you're a party animal, Events Director is for you. It's great fun, but not perfect as it turns out for introverts like *ehem* your current Events Director. 
All you've got to do is speak up and you can help lead the Arizona Browncoats forward! It's remarkably rewarding knowing you're representing the Browncoat community doing great works. When you stand in front of a theater full of fans at Can't Stop The Serenity, or sell some special trinket to an excited new Browncoat at Comicon, or hand over the check to our charity beneficiaries, you know you're doing the right thing.
