The New Corporate Year Approacheth

Hi Gang!

Congratulations on making it through the first year of the AzBc Corporation! Though we still have plenty to accomplish, we managed to hang in through the rough patches of trying to get everything tidy and official-like. We even snagged some new members along the way, bringing our total membership to just over 30. As we head into our second year, there are a few things to bring to your attention.

First, if you want to continue your membership, you need to pay your annual membership dues by May 1. The Board of Directors has set the dues for 2009-2010 at $12 for a General Membership, $21 for a Household Membership (2 voting members and ten associate, nonvoting members), and $120 for a Lifetime Membership. You can pay your dues at the April meeting, by sending a check to our P.O. Box, or by PayPal if you really need to (ask Marg for more details about that). Additionally, now that we are out of the charter membership phase, if you cannot renew your membership at this time, but can at some point in the future, your annual dues will be prorated for the months remaining in the year.

Second, it's time to elect the Officers for the next year. The term of the new Officers will begin on May 1st. Let's quickly review the positions:

Board of Directors
*Chairperson of the Board
(the person who holds this position cannot hold the position of President simultaneously)
*Corporate Treasurer
*Board Member #3
(will act as either Vice Chairperson or Corporate Secretary as determined by Board after elections are complete)
*Board Member #4
(will act as either Vice Chairperson or Corporate Secretary as determined by Board after elections are complete)
*Additional Board Members
(if we have more than 30 people renew their membership, we will add a seat - or seats- to the Board of Directors)

Procedural Officers
*President
(the person who holds this position cannot hold the position of Chairperson simultaneously)
*Vice President
*Procedural Secretary
*Procedural Treasurer
(same person as Corporate Treasurer)

In order to qualify for an Officer position, you must be a current member, at least 18 years of age, and have attended 5 of the previous 12 general membership meetings. Our twelfth meeting will be April 7. If you joined in the middle of the year, you are eligible if you have a 42% attendance rate from the time you joined. According to my records, attendance at the April meeting will not affect anyone's qualifications. This means the following individuals are eligible to be elected as Officers:

Jennifer Anderson
Brian Esterson
Margaret Grady
Shellei Guenther
Caylee Hoover
Cameron LaRue
Kevin McAlonan
Tisha McGovern
David Ramirez
David Richins
Lisa Richins
Collin Toohey
Randall Whitlock
Raymond Wolfe

Per our updated bylaws, nominations will be in order on the Members Forum for four days and the poll for each position will be open for three days following the nominations. All nominations must be seconded and the person who was nominated must accept the nomination prior to the poll opening. You may nominate yourself, but your nomination must still be seconded.

Elections will take place according to the following schedule (if there are no tie votes):

April 6th - April 9th: Nominations for Chairperson of the Board and Corporate Treasurer
April 10th - April 12th: Polling for Chairperson of the Board and Corporate Treasurer
April 13th - April 16th: Nominations for Board Members #3 and #4
April 17th - April 19th: Polling for Board Members #3 and #4
April 20th - April 23th: Nominations for President, Vice President, Procedural Secretary
April 24th - April 26th: Polling for President, Vice President, Procedural Secretary

If you are nominated and seconded for a position, you may post a single email on the Members Forum describing your qualifications for the position.

I know this is rather lengthy, so I'll be posting follow-up emails with reminders as we get closer to the elections. Please be considering who you would like to see in certain positions, and what positions you may be interested in holding.

Any questions? Just ask!
